TRAI seeks views on Fifth Amendment to the Telecom Mobile Number Portability Regulations 2009

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has issued draft amendment to the Mobile Number Portability Regulations for the consultation of the stake holders.

Earlier, TRAI had issued the Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability Regulations, 2009 (8 of 2009) dated 23rd September, 2009 laying down the basic business process framework for implementation of mobile number portability in the country.The Authority had received complaints from the subscribers of corporate mobile numbers that their porting requests have been rejected by the donor operators under the category Contractual Obligation for want of permission/authorization from the company/ corporate for porting such numbers..

In order to address issues relating to processing of porting requests, from the subscribers of corporate mobile numbers, TRAI has issued draft Telecommunications Mobile Number Portability (Fifth Amendment) Regulations 2009 which is available on TRAI™s website www.trai.gov.in. Stakeholders are requested to send their comments on the draft regulations by 2nd April 2013 by email to sbanzal@gmail.com or trai.mn@gmail.com.
