The Department of Electronics and IT has extended the date of implementation of Compulsory Registration for electronic goods under the Electronics and IT Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2012 for a period of three months beyond April 3, 2013. The new date on which the order come sinto effect is July 3, 2013.
Further, units which do not comply by July 3, 2013 can seek further extension of time for three months on payment of a fee, as per the following details:
Manufacturing Units:
a. Which submit the products to the BIS recognized labs before July 3, 2013, but test reports are not available, be levied a fee on a per month basis at the rates specified, for such period till they submit request for registration to BIS with complete test reports.
b. Which do not submit the products to the BIS recognized labs before July 3, 2013, be levied a fee on a per month basis at 3 times the rates specified in Annexure A, for such period till they submit their samples for testing and thereafter with a fee on a per month basis at the rates specified for such period till they submit request for registration to BIS with complete test reports.
No extension is available beyond October 3, 2013.
