Central Board of Excise and Customs vide Notification No. 14/2017- Central Excise (N.T), dated the 9th June 2017 exercises the powers conferred by Central Excise Rules, 2002 and Service Tax Rules, 1994.
The board delegates the powers to subordinate Central Excise Officers for issuing show cause notices for the purpose of assignment of adjudication under the provisions of Central Excise Act, 1944 or the Finance Act 1994.
This Notification issued by the Central Board of Excise and Customs on 9th June 2017 gets notified in the official Gazette on 19th June 2017.

G.S.R. 602(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37A of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), read with section 83 of the Finance Act, 1994 ( 32 of 1994) , the Central Government hereby appoints the 22nd June 2017, as the date on which the provisions of the notification of the Government of India, in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, Central Board of Excise and Customs vide number 14/2017- Central Excise (N.T), dated the 9th June 2017, published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary vide number G.S.R.(E) 567 dated the 9th June 2017, shall come into force.
