Vanaja N. Sarna

Chairman

DO. No. 07/CH(EC)/2018

Dated 16th February, 2018

Dear Colleagues,

I am informed that one of the newly established Zonal Training Institutes of NACIN at Jaipur has organized its first Induction training course for a batch of 45 newly recruited / promoted Inspectors which was unique in more than many ways. It was a residential training organized in collaboration with the Police Academy, Jaipur. Keeping the theme of ‘A healthy mind stays in a healthy body’, participation in P.T/drill/parade/sports was made mandatory on all training days. The indoor classes were of course a comprehensive package. Sports events were organized with winners awarded medals and a running trophy for the best squad. The valediction function was graced by the Chief Secretary and DGP of the State. The training was imparted much on the lines of training to IRS officers and I am certain that this would certainly boost the morale of the officers working at the cutting edge. I have also seen the CD of this Induction training and i am greatly impressed by the set curriculum. Similar initiatives can be taken up by other Zonal Units to reinforce our work force and this could be considered by DG, NACIN as a standard template for use in the induction training course for Inspectors across the country. My heartiest congratulations to the ADG of Zonal Unit NACIN, Jaipur and her team of officers.

I am happy to inform that ICD Patparganj has stated using the ICETAB handheld device from 7th February 2018 which was launched by the Hon’ble Finance Minister on 27th January 2018. This will be available to other Customs formations in a phased manner.

I must share that the Attorney General of India has expressed concern over the delay in filing of SLPs and Appeals in the Hon’ble Supreme Court which often leads to dismissal at the admission level itself purely on the ground of delay. Most of these cases involve large amounts of revenue. In this regard, CBEC has already put in place a mechanism to prevent delay in filing of SLPs and Appeals in the Hon’ble Supreme Court and a letter dated 1st June 2017 to this effect has already been circulated indicating revised time-frames. This is also available in the CBEC website. May I request you all to strictly adhere to the time frame indicated in the letter so as to avoid any delay in filing the of SLPs and Appeals. I have also issued a letter reiterating the above facts for strict compliance.

With warm wishes,

Yours sincerely,

(Vanaja N. Sarna)

To,

All officers and staff of Central Board of Excise and Customs
