The direct tax collections in Gujarat stood at Rs 17,782.50 crore for the FY 2010-11 against the Rs 15,239.70 crore of previous year, showing a yearly growth of 16.69 %.
In the previous year the revised target set, was almost reached, but this year in spite of achieving the growth rate, there is seen a dip of less than a 2% from the set target of Rs 18,136 crore for the FY 2010-11.
The corporate tax collection (industry) during FY-10-11 has also seen a growth of 21.90% over the last year, from Rs 9,044.30 crore to Rs 11,024 crore.
The refunds have been higher this year, a move by which the department shall be saving on the interest payouts. Nearly 90 per cent of target allocated by CBDT on refund payments has been achieved.
The Gujarat Government has decided to open 5 more centers under the Sevottam scheme for better public service delivery
The centers shall be opened in Bharuch , Vadodara , Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Gandhidham.
