ESI Contribution payment last date changed to 15th of every month w.e.f. 1st July ’17

The central government hereby amends Regulation 31 of the Employees State Insurance (General) Regulation, 1950.

Regulation 31 stands amended whereby the contribution in respect of any employee shall be paid within 15 days of the last of the calendar month in which the contribution fall due. This shall come into force with effect from the contribution  payable for the month of June, 2017 i.e.  by 15th July 2017.

12/13/1/2016 – P&D dated 01.07.2017 is circulated for information and compliance.

No.N-12/13/1/2016-P&D – Whereas draft regulation further to amend the Employees State Insurance(General)Regulations, 11950 was published as required under sub section (1) of the Employees State Insurance Act, 1948 (34 of 1948), in the Gazette of India, Part III- Section 4 dated the 1st April, 2017 inviting objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby till the expiry of the period of thorty days from the date on which this notification was published are made available to the public:-

And whereas, the said Gazette were made available to the public on 01.04.2017;

And whereas, objections and suggestions received from person likely to be affected thereby have been considered by the Employees State Insurance corporation;

Now therefore, in exercise of the power conferred by section 97 of the Employees State Insurance Act , 1948 (34 of 1948) of the Employees State Insurance Corporation, hereby makes the following Regulations further to amend the Employees Insurance (general) Regulations, 1950, namely;

1. This Regulation may  be called Employees State Insurance (General) Amendment Regulations, 2017.
2. In the regulation 31, for the words within ’21 days’ as they occur, the words within ’15 days’ shall be substituted.
3.  They Shall come into force with effect from the contribution payable for the month of June 2017 i.e. by 15 July 2017.
