Zanzibar Labour Minister Mr. Haroun Ali Suleiman Calls on Mallikarjuna Kharge Emphasizes need to Strengthen Bilateral Ties
A Delegation led by Mr. Harun Ali Suleman, Minister for Labour from the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar today called on Union Labour & Employment Minister Shri Mallikajuna Kharge here in New Delhi today.
Welcoming the delegation Shri Kharge referred to the age old relations between Tanzaniya, Zanzibar & IndiaHe also gave an account of several training & scholarship programmes offered by the Government of India to Zanzibar under the the aegis of India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS) programme as well as the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme.
Shri Kharge said Government of Tanzania made LOC reports for four projects in Zanzibar. The proposals are being examined by the concerned authorities in India, as per the priority expressed by Zanzibar, since it may not be possible for GOI to consider all the four projects proposed. In order of priority High Commission has made recommendation regarding LOC on Health facility after on the spot assessment & evaluation of the project.
In reply Mr. Mr. Harun Ali Suleman emphasized for working upon a draft MoU for further cooperation. He also praised the Govt. of India offer of further help in a number of programmes currently underway in Zanzibar.
Zanzibar is a a semi-autonomous constituent unit of thUnited Republic of Tanzania and consists of two Indian Ocean islands Unguja and Pemba, and number of small islets, with a total land area of 2,460 Sq. Kms., situated 35 Kms off the mainland of Africa.
