The Director General of Foreign Trade has issued a Public Notice dated 17th February, 2015 to provide a clarification on the Importer Exporter Code No.s (IEC) which have been issued against a single PAN No. and hence it requires some corrective action to maintain the data integrity and consistency with the policy.
Therefore in exercise of the powers conferred by the Foreign Trade Policy the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby amends the provisions and provides that:
Only one IEC will be issued against a single PAN No.. and multiple IEC’s issued against a single PAN No. shall be deactivated suo motto post 31st March, 2015.
Accordingly all the importers and exporters having multiple IEC’s against the single PAN No. shall have the option of retaining one IEC No. and surrendering all other IEC’s to the concerned RA’s by 31.03.2015 for cancellation.
Hence, the multiple IEC’s issued if not surrendered before 31.03.2015 will be deactivated.
