PUBLIC NOTICE
In order to further enhance transparency in the public delivery system and to authenticate the documents delivered by IPO to the stakeholders, the system of QR Code(s) is being introduced and henceforth the same will be printed on the Patent Renewal Certificates of Patents issued by the Patent Office. This will provide the applicants/stakeholders with the facility to verify the contents of the Patent Renewal Certificates issued by the respective offices.
It is further informed that the intimation regarding the issue of Patent Renewal Certificates shall also be made available to the applicant / agent on record immediately through email (this will be extended to SMS also in due course). Therefore, in order to access this service, the stakeholders/ applicants are advised to register their official mobile number as well as their official e-mail address with the patent office at the time of filing of the documents/ fee payment at the cash counter (at the time of CBR generation). The mobile number and e-mail address should be the ones at which the stakeholders would like to receive the message regarding the office action.
While currently the office is initiating this service for Patent Renewal Certificates, it intends to extend the service to various stages of processing of patent applications, therefore applicant(s) / agent(s) are advised to include mobile numbers and email addresses in the “address for service”. Further, Registered Patent Agents are also advised to update their address for service in the “Register of Patent Agents”.
