Shri Anand Sinha, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India and Member, SEBI Board, inaugurated the Local Office of SEBI in Chandigarh, today in the presence of Shri U. K. Sinha, Chairman, Securities and Exchange Board of India.
The Chandigarh Local Office of SEBI is located at SCO 127-128, First Floor, Sector 17 C, Chandigarh-160017 (Ph.:0172-2541717).
The mandate entrusted to SEBI by the Parliament is threefold – protection of the interests of the investors in securities, regulation of the securities market and development of the securities market.
For promoting a balanced pan India Securities market and in order to bring physical proximity of SEBI Offices to the investors and intermediaries, SEBI has decided to open Local Offices in various parts of the country. SEBI has already opened Local Offices at Indore, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar and Kochi. The Local Office at Chandigarh which was inaugurated today would cover the States of Punjab, Haryana and Union Territory of Chandigarh. The Local office of Chandigarh would be under the administrative control and jurisdiction of SEBI’s Northern Regional Office at New Delhi.
The functions of the Chandigarh Local Office shall include facilitating the redressal of investor grievances against listed companies and market intermediaries, spread investor education and financial literacy, processing the applications for Investment Advisors within its jurisdiction and such other functions as may be delegated from time to time to the Local Offices.
