The SJVN Board of Directors have recommended enhanced dividend to its shareholders for the financial year 2012-13. The net dividend pay out (excluding taxes) works out to Rs. 397.12 crore against Rs 388.84 crore paid for the financial year 2011-12. The dividend amounts to Rs 0.96 on a share of Rs. 10 each against Rs.0.94 paid last year.
SJVN is a joint venture of the Govt. of India and Govt. of Himachal Pradesh and also has more than one lakh retail shareholders. It is pertinent to mention that SJVN was listed at the National Stock Exchange in May, 2010 and presently the share of the Govt. of India in the Company`s equity is 64.47%, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh 25.50% and public 10.03%. From this dividend, Govt. of India will get Rs 256.02 crore, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh will get Rs 101.27 crore while retail shareholders will get Rs 39.83 crore.
During the year 2012-13 SJVN earned net Profit of Rs 1052.30 crore which is marginally lower than last year`s net profit of Rs 1068.68 crore.
During the financial year 2012-13 SJVN`s flagship 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station generated 6777 million units of electricity against the design energy of 6612 MU. It is an established fact that during the financial year 2012-13 the discharge of water in all the Himalayan rivers was substantially lower as compared to previous year. However SJVN managed to maintain its revenue flow by managing the machines and water in the river in an efficient manner. The Plant Availability Factor of the Company`s flagship 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station was recorded at 105.15% as against 104.26% last year which is the highest so far.
Incorporated in the year 1988 SJVN has already diversified from hydro power into the fields of Wind Power and Thermal Power besides Power Transmission. The Company`s 412 MW Rampur Hydro Electric Project in Himachal Pradesh and 47.6 MW Wind Power project in Maharashtra are scheduled to be commissioned during the current financial year. SJVN is also heading for commencing works at its 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project in Bihar. For setting up the plant, more than 500 acres of land acquisition has already been completed and the major works will be commenced shortly.
