Shri Pradeep Kumar, Central Vigilance Commissioner has asked Institutions and Organisations working in vigilance sector to collaborate with like minded people and organisations for strengthening of vigilance administration. Inaugurating the Delhi NCR chapter of Vigilance Study Circle in New Delhi today, Shri Kumar said vigilance officers have a greater role to play as the acceptance and tolerance towards corruption in the society is going down with the spread of education, civil society movement and media. He said accountability Institutions like CAG and CVC play an important role in containing corruption in the administration.
In order to strengthen the Vigilance Administration across government and to combat corruption more effectively, the idea of Vigilance Study Circle was mooted. Vigilance Study Circle plays a vital role in the fight against corruption, promoting ethics within the government and achieving transparency and efficiency in their transactions. The first Vigilance Study Circle was formed in Hyderabad in the year 2003. Subsequently, it added Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai and Kerala as its chapters.
The Mission of Vigilance Study Circle is to spread vigilance and promote public integrity. It also aims to develop skills of vigilance professionals in the fight against corruption and impart knowledge and skills to vigilance functionaries and undertake activities for wider dissemination of anti-corruption and accountability tools and techniques.
Dr. Syamal Kumar Sarkar, Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training, Shri R. Sri Kumar, Vigilance Commissioner, Shri J.M. Garg, Vigilance Commissioner and Shri Anil Sinha, Special Director CBI also spoke on the occasion.
